Lexie & Ben — A Playful Rarotonga Elopement
When Lexie and Ben first got engaged back home in the UK, they knew they didn’t want a big, traditional wedding. Instead, they packed up their apartment, left their jobs, and set off on a six-month adventure around the world — just the two of them, ready to explore life together.
As the final weeks of their journey approached, they decided they couldn’t wait any longer. Rather than heading home to start planning, they chose to end their travels with something even more special — a commitment ceremony in Rarotonga, Cook Islands. Just themselves. No pressure. A true elopement.
Their dream was simple: celebrate their love in a way that felt light, joyful, and completely them. As a Rarotonga elopement photographer, these are my favourite stories to capture — real, relaxed, and full of heart.
Their ceremony took place at Ngatekoro Beach, one of Rarotonga’s quiet, tucked-away gems. Officiated by local celebrant Florence Tia, the moment was playful, easy, and filled with so much happiness — everything an elopement in the Cook Islands should be.
After the ceremony, we wandered through the gardens with a scooter for a few fun, carefree photos, before heading to Ukelele Bar, one of the island’s best beachside spots, for celebratory Piña Coladas. This is where the photos wrapped, but their afternoon continued. They stayed for drinks, ordered food, and called their family back home to share the news.
It was simple, beautiful, and exactly how they wanted it — an intimate island elopement that felt like their story.
My Approach to Elopements in Rarotonga
I believe elopements should feel true to you. Whether that’s barefoot on the sand, riding scooters through the garden, or sipping cocktails by the sea — there’s no rulebook here. My approach as a Rarotonga elopement photographer is relaxed, thoughtful, and focused on documenting your day honestly, just as it felt. I’ll be there to guide you when needed, but mostly, I’ll step back and let your connection shine.
